Data Base Administrator

Summary of Position:
Responsible for designing methods to store, analyze, utilize, and organize data. Sets up computer databases after identifying user needs. Migrate data from old systems to new system.
Install, upgrade and patch, design backup and recovery procedures, importexport database schemas, stored procedures, packages, triggers, T/SQL. Write complex queries and perform SQL tuning and database performance tuning. Maintain responsibility for maintaining ERDs and data dictionaries, troubleshooting database-related issues, and deploying database changes to development, test, and production environments.
Duties &
Responsibilities:
Responsible for all functions associated with the design, implementation and maintenance of SQL Server databases including security, back-up, logging, reporting and recovery procedures
Transform data via standardization, cleaning, data repair, matching, and de-duping
Manage data from multiple sources including internal, external, and 3rd party data
Assist in maintaining and improving database operational efficiency
Perform daily, weekly, and monthly data maintenance tasks
Assist in developing feeds to Data Warehouse and Marts
Ensure data can be provided to support OLAP reports and various reporting requirements
- Troubleshoot and resolving database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking issues, replication issues, log shipping issues, connectivity issues, security issues etc.
SQL database Performance Tuning, Query Optimization, using Performance Monitor, SQL Profiler and other related monitoring and troubleshooting tools
- Knowledge of backups, restores, recovery models, database shrink operations, DBCC commands, Clustering, Database mirroring, Replication.
- Create ETL packages from a variety of sources for database loading
- Strong knowledge of how indexes, index management, integrity checks, configuration, patching. How statistics work, how indexes are stored, how they can be created and managed effectively.
- SQL Development - ability to write and troubleshoot SQL Code and design ( stored procs, functions, tables, views, triggers, indexes, constraints )
- Documentation skills for processes and procedures ( creating KBs, runbooks, topology etc )
- May require off hours work for maintenance



Qualifications:
BS degree (computer science or equivalent, MS preferred)
3 years of experience functioning as a DBA in a production SQL environment
Experience with MS SQL Server 2012/2014, including use of Query Analyzer, stored procedures, DTS, Jobs and Profiler
Experience creating and maintaining an extraction, transformation, and loading process from source systems or files into a data warehouse
Experience with managing data in Microsoft Access and Excel
Understanding of XML helpful
Project Management skills highly desired
Strong communication skills required
A desire to exceed project, client and co-worker expectations
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
