Walgreens Infusion Services Residency Program (PGY-1)
The residency at Walgreens Infusion Services is a post graduate education and training experience designed to develop a pharmacist with expertise in all aspects of home infusion services. The goal of the residency is to provide advanced educational training to pharmacists whose abilities and motivation indicate potential for leadership roles in pharmacy practice. The resident will complete patient care activities at a Walgreens Infusion Services pharmacy located in the Boston area suburbs. Upon completion of this program, the resident will have gained experience in patient care, clinical management, and operational management of home infusion services and will be prepared to assume a challenging innovative pharmacy position.
This Residency Program is a PGY1 accredited residency program by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists.
Residency Activities
Participate in pharmacy operations and provide clinical pharmacy services to home infusion therapy patients.
Assist in the design, recommendation, monitoring and evaluation of patient-specific pharmacy care plans for the pharmacotherapy of home care patients
Participate in the provision of drug information services to pharmacist and nurses practicing in our approximately 80 nation wide locations
Participate in the process for assessing, managing, and reporting medication-related incidents and equipment error and/or failures
Contribute to the development of medication monographs and treatment protocols used to guide therapy decisions by local clinicians
Participate in scheduled operations management meetings, contribute to the quality assurance program, and develop new home therapy programs where appropriate
Provide clinical instruction to student pharmacists on clerkship
Design and conduct a home infusion focused residency project
Present residency project results a regional residency conference and an appropriate professional meeting
## Qualifications
Candidate Requirements
Massachusetts Pharmacist License within 90 days of the start of the residency program
PharmD. degree from a college or school of pharmacy accredited by the accreditation council for pharmacy education
